Slicing Ham
2021 Spring break, with miniatures
2024 Creative Time, gala
Slicing Ham is an absurd piece, both grotesque and aggressive with a continuously flopping piece of ham being sliced by a sharp knife, landing with a guillotine-esque thud. Ham, especially adorned with nostalgic pineapple and cherries, has traditionally adorned the tables of American gatherings, and pariing with themes of revolution and aggression gives this seemingly innocent food staple the anxiety most of us feel.
Slicing Ham, in its first iteration, is paired with miniature scenes of revolution, of horror, and bits of pieces of the upheaval of 2020/21.
Miniatures, Slicing Ham.
